A Class III Biosafety Cabinet is a gas-tight, fully enclosed laboratory containment unit designed to provide the maximum level of protection for personnel, the environment, and the product. It is used for Biosafety Level 3 and 4 (BSL-3/BSL-4) laboratories handling high-risk pathogens, including those with a high potential for aerosol transmission and fatal diseases without known treatments or vaccines (e.g., Ebola, Marburg virus).

A Class II Type B2 Biosafety Cabinet is a ventilated laboratory workspace designed to provide total personnel, product, and environmental protection when working with moderate- to high-risk biological agents (BSL-2 or BSL-3), especially those involving toxic chemicals or radionuclides. Unlike other Class II cabinets, the Type B2 cabinet does not recirculate air—100% of the air is exhausted through HEPA filters to an external ventilation system.

A Class II Type A2 Biosafety Cabinet is a ventilated containment workstation designed to provide personnel, product, and environmental protection when working with biological materials. It is the most widely used BSC type for Biosafety Level 1, 2, and 3 laboratories.

This cabinet uses HEPA-filtered, vertical laminar airflow to protect products from contamination while maintaining a negative pressure barrier to safeguard users and the environment.

A Class I Biosafety Cabinet is a ventilated laboratory enclosure designed to provide personnel and environmental protection from moderate-risk biological agents. It operates under negative pressure, drawing room air into the cabinet and exhausting it through a HEPA filter to remove airborne contaminants.

Unlike Class II cabinets, Class I cabinets do not provide product protection, as the inward airflow can introduce contaminants to the work surface. However, they are suitable for procedures that generate aerosols and require protection for the user and surrounding environment.
